If you do not have that critical spare part when you need it, you may be in big trouble. On the other hand, it is impossible to keep extra pressure washer pump parts and tools on the shelf. We do not know what the future will bring, but there is an analytical way to minimize the expected costs.
Our Introduction to Maintenance Management of Spare Parts
This business discipline came from being a professional contract cleaner just like you and never having the right part on hand when breakdowns happened.
After a few years of yelling and beating my head against the wall because the parts I need to keep my equipment running was on someone else’s shelf thousands of miles away. After a time I decided that if I planned on staying in the mobile wash business that having spare parts had to be a priority. But which ones?
Well, I couldn’t work without a pump so a spare pump was added to my list of spare parts but since pumps last a long time only one would be required.
I couldn’t work without an unloader and since they seldom fail only one needed to be added to my general pump parts list.
I couldn’t work without a trigger gun, hose or chemical injector and since these are very high wear items I would need to add five (5) of each to my spare part list.
